Hiya Bod I loved dib dabs. Ice lolly wise I always liked fabs and cider lollies. Not sure what wham bars are and I can't remember the icecream you mentioned. Still get lots of penny sweets here (not that they cost a penny anymore!!!) I like cola bottles and jelly cherries and fruit salad (do they still do them?) Hmmmmmm Off to eat some bananas or I will go buy chocs... Mademma

Wham bars were chews they were either mint or cola flavour and came in 2 sizes either for 5p or 10p! they might have just been a scottish thing maybe made by the people who do Highland Toffee (sure you can get them all over uk) you could also get Irn Bru bars that tasted nowt like Irn Bru!!! Hated those chocolate disks with the hundreds and thousands on YUK!

Hi there! Sorry I haven´t been on line..have been a little poorly recently ..but I´m all better now ;D I remember those chocolagte disk things Bod. They were awful! Tasted like plastic..really "cheap" chocolate Does anyone remember "Black Jacks" they were usually in the 1p trays..I loved them!!! made your mouth all nice and black to (which never impressed my Mum so much!) Somethings were just so "special" back then..like how the man in the sweet shop were I lived would weigh out the sweets and put them in a good old paper bag...back in the time when Cadburys Mini eggs were sold loose in a big box with like a white powder on them (anyone else remember them like that..or am I just nuts!?) ..speaking of which , I´m a sucker for chocolate peanuts! Congratulations Bod! When is your baby Bod due? Mademma reminded me of those sweets that looked like bananas and had a banana flavour, they were great! I am on a strict diet at the moment...need to lose a few kilos (ahem!) I´d kill for some chocs! Dieting sucks big time! Well I´ll toodle off for now....take care! Becky

Hey all, this is the busiest thread in a while UK-based boarders should head over to www.aquarterof.co.uk for their nostalgic, tooth-decaying jollies! They're sort of the polar opposite of the Cybercandy sweet store - rather than searching out bizarre new snacks from around the world, AQuarterOf seeks out the sweets that time forgot. Like proper pink foam shrimps...

Hi Danforth! Welcome on board! ;D I checked out the link you sent. It was brilliant! I had completely forgotten about Frys cream chocolate! I loved those!! When I was younger though they did a Frys "fruit" cream and the different pieces had different coloured centres that was the best one! Don´t know why they stopped making that one. I´ll tell you though I am extremely stoooopid for looking on that site..what with me dieting and all! Thank God the computer that allows you to smell hasn´t been fully developed otherwise I´d probably be sat here at work eating post -its imagining it´s chocs! Does anyone remember that really cheap pink chewing gum that had little tatoos in? They were smiley face tatoos that you could lick then press on your arm and voilá! You got yourself a wash off tatoo...the envy of all your mates! ;D Thank goodness my working day is nearly over (an hour ahead here in Sweden)...yipee! Hope to hear from someone. somtime... Becky

Remember Spangles, don't see them now, proper Fruit Gums that stuck in your teeth, Bazooka Joe chewing gums, Sherbert fountains with white powder and a stick of liquorice that you dipped in, real creamy Galaxy chocolate that tasted totally different to today's, Milk Tray bars with different sections of flavours (mine was the barrel shaped with a green centre, don't known what the flavour was). Ah those were the days. I wonder why it's hard to get registered with an NHS dentist now!

still get the sherbert fountains. yummy. I used to love bazooka joe gum - can you still get that.
Becky I always hated the milk bottle sweets too... yuk.
That link was brilliant - I was asking earlier in this thread about a sweet I used to eat that was stringy and linked to pirates - there it was on the link 'Spanish Gold' yeah the magic of forums.
Other stuff I have not seen for a while is toffos and little packets of fruit hard boiled sweets used to get about 5 or 6 little balls in a packet
too much........ my teeth are aching thinking about all this sugar.

My mouth is watering with all the descriptions of chocolate and sweets! I think I know Australian types of most of what you are talking about. Did you guys have Minties, clinkers, bullets, and Redskins? Beck

Bullets are chocolate covered liquorish in the shape of a bullet; Redskins are red strips of chewy sweet; and Clinkers are chocolate covered oval shaped lollies which have different colloured thingys inside (how to describe them they are hard but easy to bite through and tend to kind of shatter in your mouth).
