I had a trinket box as my top on my cake. It was a wedding shoe. And around the box it had the saying Something old........ you know the rest. Going for something different is good. And Merry Christmas to you too. Hope it's a good one. And same to everyone else too! I'm really looking fwd to it as my wee girl is celebrating her 1st christmas this year. Not that she will understand, but hey I'm looking fwd to it anyway. ;D

Sue,
Just remembering stuff from my own wedding and as I do, I'll post it here. The best thing we possibly did was put two disposable cameras on each table during the meal (and then had a few lying around in the evening). We then collected them all up, got them developed and ended up with a lot of different views of the wedding. In fact, some of the best pictures came from those cameras.
You can usually get them for about £6 and some include the processing costs. Well worth doing.
Also, send out a sheet of paper with the invites with directions for where everyone is going and asking them to let you know if they need anything special for the meal, this is especially true for children. We had one person tell us 30 minutes before the meal they were vegetarian, fortunately, the hotel could deal with it.
If you send me a PM with your e-mail address, I can probably send you the letter that we sent (if I can find it).

not sure how to pm things never done it before. We are looking at puttin camras in the table as we went to a wedding last year where they did the same. We have also asked for a childrens menu, which is cheeper at the place we are going, some places do not and charge the same price it woud work out cheeper for his parent how are paying for it but every time we change foe a childrens menu we are adding another adult.
I like the idea of the tinket box it sound lovley. I was going to have a man with a ball and chain on his leg but it would not of looked right on the cake. I had seen a cake with swans on it and i dedcided to have dove. I will just have to get him a real ball and chain.
I finish today from work at lunch time so if i do not speak to anybody before have a lovley time and i hope you little girl enjoys her first christmas shmoo it should be magical.

Well done. You have been busy girl! You say all you have to do now is wait. Well make sure you relax too as the waiting won't last long. Are you having a theme for your hen nite? I didn't have one, but now wish I had. In fact I had 2 hen nites, one for all my mates which was a pub crawl and disco and one for the "oldies" which was just in my local pub, with Karaoke and dancing. They were both great. Plenty of photos. Really enjoyable. And great fun! ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind and take a potty or something to collect in. Actually it's your Maid of Honours job to do that! I made over £100 in my young ones pub crawl. ;D

i have never heard of people making money on there han nights either, but i like the idea. How do you go about that? What do you say to people to get them to give you money? I had not even thought about having it themed. I would have to speak to the maid of honor see what she thinks. We are both Disney mad but i do not think most would apprectiate that, there are also not that meny femal charatures either to go around everybody. Not sure what to have if that is what we decied to do. I am only having one though as we are going to the comady club in manchester, you have a sit down meal watch some comidians and then they have a night club for later and all us young ones that fell like getting just a little more drunk, I am having it a week before the wedding so i do not have to worry about hangovers.

My daughter went abroad with some friends (young ones) for her hen night and then had a local night in a pub for the oldies. I went and cried my eyes out because we had a singer with a guitar to entertain us "girlies" and he sang "I hope you have the time of your life" by Greenday while all her friends were hugging her. We had food laid on and everyone sang along with the singer - brilliant time! Enjoy your hen night Sue, its a good idea to have it a week before, gives you time to recover!

About your hen night. Collecting is a tradition here I'm sure. All you really need is a set of "L" plates and a potty. My freind had a police theme for hers and it went down a treat. My other friend had a 70's theme. Big flares, affro perm wigs, big collars with mental colours. Have your matron of honour/chief bridesmaid go round the pub and ask kindly if anyone would like to make a donation to the hen! What you do with the money is up to you. Some people pay for the night/or some of it with the money they collect. Others buy something for their wedding day. It's entirely up to you. Just go and enjoy it. The week before is a great idea too. thats what I did, no hangover for me. Keep in touch and Good luck! Shmoo

I have some L plate i hopefull will not need by them as i have my drivin test soon, i am guessing by potty you mean anything you can put money in. I am looking for some different ideas as what to for my favours, i want something fearly cheap but that looks like it either took a long time to make or cost alot. Any ideas would be great.

;DBy potty I mean a babies po! Well thats what we use up here in Scotland anyway. Why? I have no idea! As for favours. I made(My Cousin) made mine. The popular ones to make are usually the 5 almonds in a net tied with ribbon, the almonds are meant to signify something although I'm not quite sure what! I had the same sort of Idea but as My colour scheme was bottle green and navy I used glass pebbles/stones, you know you can buy them in bags at most home stores. I bought mine from "Internacionale" if thats any help. I put in more than five as they were quite small, but you get them for 2 or 3 pounds per bag. You can also buy little scrolls and things from various card and gift shops. It just depends on how much you need as to how much it will all cost. I suppose you could always make your own wee scrolls if you have(well obviously you do) access to a computer. You could tie them up with a ribbon to go with the colour scheme for your wedding. Just find them in a shop, have a look and do them on your puter at home. Save plenty doing that. You could always use coloured paper to print them.Sorry not to be of more help. I'll keep thinking tho! And if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

thank you. We might still go for chocolate yet but we will see. My colour scheme is red and white as my partner is a bid united fan. Because i suffer quite badley from heyfever i am not having flowers. We are using the small stones ans glass to fill small varses and puttind plastisc orchids in them. It looks very effective and does not cost alot.

Glad to hear things are going well Sue. A couple more thoughts.
If you're having a guest book for people to write stuff in then let them know it's there. We left one out and nobody saw it until late into the night so there was hardly anything written in it.
If finances allow, get a band for the evening do. It gets everybody going far better than a disco playing the same old rubbish they always play at weddings (I know DJs that hate doing weddings because of the music played but do them because they can charge extra as it's a wedding).
We spent quite a bit of money and had a Robbie Williams tribute band. One of the best decisions we made!
