For my daughter's wedding we made our own favours. I bought some pink and white tulle fabric (the material used in ballet dancer's tutus) from a material shop or you could use any thin material such as organza, used a small plate as a template and cut the shape out gathered them up and filled them with about six pink and white sugared almonds (bought these in a huge bag from a sweet counter at our local market) then tied them with thin satin ribbon. They were very pretty. We also filled some with smarties and love hearts for the smaller children. As there were about 10 guests per table we put 5 favours on each table. We also bought metallic confetti and sprinkled some on the tables, you could use ordinary confetti it's just as effective. Some gift/card shops sell packs of small stick on diamond and heart shapes which we stuck in the corners of the place settings.

shmoo, The scroll idea sounds lovely. Do you write anything on them or are they just for decoration? (always on the look out for ideas for the next wedding which, as my youngest is a teen, is hopefully a long, long way off yet!!)
I went to a wedding reception recently which had a chocolate fountain, unfortunately we sat near to it all night! I was sick of the sight of choc by about nine o'clock especially when some of the erm inebriated thought it would be a good idea to try to drink the stuff directly from the fountain. Sounds easy but you have to stick your face in, um, that's what I saw them doing anyway!

The scroll which I received at a friend's wedding had a small verse in it. She had a small plastic gold coloured wedding ring to keep the scrolls closed. The verse was on the inside and down the bottom were their names and the date of their wedding. Quite simple really, and people make lots selling these things. The writing was itallic(hope thats how it's spelled) and in gold. The scrolls themselves were about the size or maybe just slightly bigger than a page from a memo pad. You know the ones you have by your phone. I think they're called post it's or something, but they were about that size anyway. If you are deciding to make your own you will probably get 4 from an A4 sheet of paper. As for the guest book, Ian is right. We made the mistake he did and not many people realised it was there. So please let people know you have one. You can buy one from card shops. I think they cost about £10. Or maybe as an idea, you could suggest someone getting it as a wedding gift and make it their job to get people to write in it. They can then give it to you on your wedding night after everyone has written their message for you and your husband. Therefor one less thing for you to worry about on your special day. ;D

I also meant to say on the DJ, Taken from what you have written, you have heard him before. At our wedding, we put lots of little pieces of paper and a pen on the tables at night for requests for the dj. That way people are getting the music they like and it makes the DJ's job alot easier. ;D

At my brother's wedding recently they had sugared almonds in a little mesh bag with a scroll attached with the meaning of them inside it...5 almonds symbalising health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life. 5 is also an odd number and cannot be divided, symbolysing that nothing can divide the newlyweds. Also, fresh almonds sometimes have a bittersweet taste which represents life. The sugarcoating is added with the hope that the newlyweds' life will be more sweet than bitter. (For a bit of fun - in the Middle East sugared almonds are considered an aphrodisiac.) Beck

I think we are going for chocolate in little box's. The tabel decorations are going to be given out to specific people as a keep safe reminder of the day. They will be half done as glass bowls with flowers and the other half ballons. Don't mind the bit about them being an aphrodisiac though. That better not be a problem at the end of the night or it will be the shortest marrige in history (only joking).
