I remember I got Forever from the library when i was about 11 and my mum decided to have a look to see what it was about and she was really peed off!!! I couldn't see the fuss really - although the part where they had a name for his willy (was it ralph) maybe was a bit inappropriate for primary school!!

I still have all my Point Horrors books! I loved them! Do you remember the one called "13" that had (surprisingly) 13 stories in it? There was one called "The Doll" which really scared the sh*t out of me. I can't look at a porcelain doll again. If I stay in someones house that has one I have to ask them to lock it away in the shed or something!! They're really freaky!

Porcelain dolls have freaked me out ever since i saw a video cover for the horror film 'Dolls' (i didn't need to see the film my imagination was enough) so i was scared by that story too! Anything about toys coming to life is scary!

Maybe that was due to my sheltered up bringing (Yeah right!)

Anything about toys coming to life is scary! You won't have seen the puppet horror film called "The Puppet Master" then??? Or "It" which was a Stephen King novel made into a film about a clown that kidnapped children through the condies (that's drains in the road for you people in England!)

Have seen both those films actually - you have to face your fears sometimes!!! IT is one of my favourite books actually - I love stephen king. Have not seen the tom hanks film but heard its really good. By the way I am Scottish and I have never heard of a drain being called a condy! Must be a regional thing!!

All this talk of dolls coming alive has stirred a very vague memory of a programme I used to watch on a Sunday night on BBC It was about a exclusive sort of gentlemans club where prospective members had to tell a true supernatural story about something that had happened to them. Depending whether the story was scary enough they'd be allowed to join...
One day a young lady asked to tell her story. I remember she had a wicked stepmother who tried by various means to dispose of her but was foiled each time by a lifesize doll (I think called Rose) that the young girl had been given by her real mother before she died. In the end I think the stepmother was found dead (but we knew it wasn't the accident they thought it was!) The gentlemen agreed it was a good story but they couldn't allow her to join because it obviously couldn't be true. The young lady then said she'd like to introduce them to a friend of hers..... and in walked the doll !! I think this must have been mid/late 70's and was on about 8.00 or 9.00 ?
Does anyone else remember this? I know it's not strictly a children's programme - but I watched it when I was young so I'm counting it in ! Phoebe
